A 21-YEAR-OLD man who allegedly had sexual intercourse with an under-aged girl in a corn patch has been charged by police.
According to police reports Darren Babwah from Dyer Village, Hardbargain, appeared virtually before Senior Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. He was granted $75,000 bail with a surety and ordered to stay 300 meters from the victim.
Babwah, who is employed as a lorry man, was charged with sexual penetration of a 14-year-old girl.
He was arrested after a report was made to the South Western Child Protection Unit (CPU).
It is alleged that the man had sexual intercourse with the girl in a corn patch in September 2020.
WPC Quashie-Gay, of the South Western CPU, conducted an investigation which resulted in the man being arrested and charged on Tuesday . The investigation was supervised by acting Insp Khan.
The accused is expected to reappear on September 29.
