WHILE there is no date for physical school classes yet, the Ministry of Education notes that the Forms Four to Six cohort will be the first to attend school.
The Ministry of Education stated on Tuesday that pupils in these forms will be the first to return to in-person classes as the ministry gets ready for the opening of the new school term on September 6. School is only online from that date.
In a press release, the ministry stated, “The vaccination uptake by the population, including students, as well as the overall Covid-19 situation will be taken into consideration by the Ministry of Health, which will further advise the government and Ministry of Education on a possible start date for face-to-face classes. Physical school is carded to resume, in the first instance, for the Forms Four to Six cohort on a date to be announced.”
All education stakeholders are being advised by the ministry that the safety and operational parameters laid out in the existing 2020/2021 Guidelines for the Reopening of Schools now apply to the academic year 2021/2022 and are asked to be guided accordingly.
The finalised Curricular Guidelines, which apply specifically to Term 1 of academic year 2021/2022, will be sent subsequently to all relevant stakeholders, the ministry stated.
