A call has been made for immediate repairs on the Guaracara Tabaquite Road.

Local Councillor for Ben Lomond/Hardbargain/Williamsville Alvin Keyree Daniel has called on Minister of Works and Transport, Rohan Sinanan to intervene in road works following an increase in landslips.

Daniel said residents were grateful for the portion of the road that was paved earlier this year and the multiple patching exercises.

However, he said that the roadway was still in a deplorable condition.

Daniel said, “We are kindly asking that more is done given the immediate threat of life and loss of property. We have numerous potholes that can be compared to craters, and landslips of astronomical impacts.

The councillor said the recent repairs on Garth Road landslip has not only become an eyesore but a serious hazard.

He said, “Life has become difficult for the commuting residents who are already inundated by the impact of Covid-19.”

Daniel added, “It is unfair currently that persons must spend extra on increased vehicular repairs and maintenance costs due to the deplorable state of the road.

“While we understand the economic effects of Covid-19, it is noticeable that resources are being allocated for numerous development projects, most notably the cultural development drive through the TTD 14 million pan yard.”

He said there was a lack of material accessible to the ministry to do repairs but believed that the minister’s personal intervention was required to bring resolve.
