THREE members of the Olympic team have tested positive for Covid-19 and are presently in quarantine.
The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) in a media release on Friday stated that as a result Andwuelle Wright (Long Jump) and Sparkle Ann McKnight (400m hurdles) will not be able to participate in their events on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan.
The two athletes and an official received positive test results following daily routine saliva antigen tests at the Olympic Village. This followed two verification PCR tests in accordance with the established Tokyo2020 Covid-19 protocols.
The Committee stated that the three members have been transferred to the approved isolation hotel facility for foreign athletes and officials to commence mandatory quarantine.
The 50 member team are tested daily and must comply with the measures outlined by the Japanese Government and the International Olympic Comitttee, the TTOC stated.
