A TEENAGER dies after the vehicle she was a passenger in crashed into a tree on Monday.
Police reported that around 4.30 pm, the driver of a grey Toyota Corolla was proceeding north along the Uriah Butler Highway just after Endeavour Flyover, left lane when he lost control of his vehicle.
He skidded off the roadway and collided with a tree. His girlfriend Resa Ramoutar, 19, of Esmerelda Road, Cunupia, who was the front seat passenger sustained injuries and was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility by family members for treatment where she subsequently succumbed to her injuries.
Acting Sgt Cielto and a party of officers went to the driver’s address at Watts Street, St Augustine and was directed to La Seiva Road, Maracas, St Joseph, where they met the driver. He was taken to the Chaguanas Police Station to make a formal report.
Arrangements were made to have the vehicle bought to the Chaguanas Police Station.
Investigations are continuing.
