UNVCACCINATED children entering Trinidad and Tobago, just like all passengers, will have to take a PCR test 72 hours before arrival.
This was revealed in a release by the Ministry of Health on Friday in outlining the protocols for unvaccinated children arriving in the country.
It stated that only the Pfizer Biontech vaccine (Cominarty) is authorised for children 12 years and above but currently this particular brand of vaccine “remains largely unavailable to the people of T&T.”
It stated that a child is defined and a person under the age of 18 years.
The release stated, “The Ministry of Health takes the opportunity to clarify its quarantine position as it relates to the quarantine protocols for unvaccinated children entering both T&T (nationals as well as non-nationals travelling with a fully vaccinated Parent or Guardian).”
The following will be required for unvaccinated children:
- PCR Test 72 hours prior to arrival
- Repeat of a PCR test between days three to five
- All test results, both positive and negative to be reported to the County Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) and/or Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Those who are positive will be required to isolate immediately at the discretion of the CMOH and an additional quarantine order will be applied.
The release noted that the same conditions for fully vaccinated adults will be applied to fully vaccinated children.
It stated that full Quarantine Protocols for Passengers Entering into Trinidad and Tobago is available via the Guidelines and Regulations page of the Covid-19 portal on the Ministry of Health’s website – www.health.gov.tt or directly via www.health.gov.tt/quarantine-protocols-for-passengers-entering-trinidad-and-tobago-effective-july-17th-2021.
