DR Margaret Elcock, founder of the first Christian Radio Station in Trinidad and Tobago, has died.

She passed away on Sunday at 5.40pm, following a heart attack at her Westmoorings home at age 73.

Many are still in shock at her passing who said she lived a life well lived.

Elcock founded the Family Focus Broadcasting Network (FBN), parent company of the Isaac 98.1FM gospel radio station and for decades hosted a morning programme on the station.

She was also the first woman on the island to own a national radio station and in 2010 received the Hummingbird Medal Silver for her work in the broadcast industry.

In a press release on Monday, one of her daughters, former FBN General Manager, Marisa Elcock-Thongs, said on Sunday: “God decided to take Margaret Elcock home to him today, Sunday 4th July 2021. There are fireworks in heaven! She is home. We know that she has touched many of you in many different ways and so we will all be processing this loss in our own way. God is with us and He is the God of all comfort. Our family thanks you for your prayer and support in this very real and personal time. May His Shalom be upon us all.”

The board, management and staff of FBN/Issac 98.1FM extend deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends and to the entire FBN Family of Dr Elcock.

The network stated, “Mrs. E”, as she was fondly called, dedicated her life to the service of God via ministry. She will be sadly missed but she has gone on to be with her heavenly father.”

Dr Elcock founded the network in 1991 and was pioneering in her vision to establish the first 24-hour gospel station in Trinidad and Tobago in 2002.

Another daughter, Christianne Elcock, has been at the helm of the company for the last three years as General Manager and will faithfully carry on her mother’s legacy, FBN stated.
