MINISTER of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan will be meeting with Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh to determine if the 50% transport capacity for taxi-drivers could be adjusted.
Sinanan in Parliament on Friday said he noted statements made by the Trinidad and Tobago Taxi Drivers Network that industrial action will be taking place next week.
He said he was not involved in the Ministry of Health’s policy decision making, however a meeting will be held to discuss the issue. He added that he has been meeting with the various stakeholders including the taxi-drivers’ associations.
“The health protocols are guided by the Ministry of Health and seeing that they have raised their concerns on this specific action, the Minister of Works promise to speak with the Minister of Health to have a discussion going forward for the best interest of all the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago,” Sinanan said.
