TWO brothers who robbed their uncle of tools were granted bail on Monday.
Kevon and Kenroy Sobers, of Mendez Street, Samaroo Village, Arima, appeared virtually before Arima Magistrate Nanette Forde-John police reported on Tuesday.
The brothers, ages 32 and 30, were each granted $45,000 bail with a surety. The Sobers brothers were charged with robbery with violence of their 50-year-old uncle on Monday by PC Nicholas of the Arima Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Police stated that around 11am on June 1, the victim was travelling in a vehicle proceeding east along Mendez Street, Samaroo Village, Arima, when it was stopped by two persons. Upon seeing him, they accused him of stealing their jewellery and he was dealt several blows about his body. The two persons then took his purple Jansport bag containing a quantity of tools and escaped .The victim reported the incident to the Arima Police Station where PC Nicholas conducted enquiries.
The investigation led to the recovery of the tools and the arrest of the two brothers who were subsequently charged after being positively identified.
