40 More Beds in Tobago to Help with Covid-19

TOBAGO will add 40 beds to accommodate Covid-19 patients.

This according to Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Tracy Davidson-Celestine  at a virtual media conference on Friday.

Active covid-19 cases on the island was 99 with 357 positive cases recorded overall.

Davidson-Celestine said one ambulance was added on Thursday, to ensure  transfer for Covid-19 patients from their homes to hospital.

Two new counselling hotlines were also established for people to apply for social services benefits, rental assistance and food support. The other hotline would be available for those who needed counselling support during this time.

She added, “As of yesterday, 199 persons have since called for support via the hotline and 178 food vouchers were distributed.”

The division was also trying to source additional testing equipment including antigen test kits.
