A Rio Claro doctor passes away at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility after testing positive for Covid-19.
Dr Maniram Rampaul was one of nine people who were reported as dying due to Covid-19 on Tuesday.
Mayaro MP Rushton Paray paid tribute to Dr Rampaul in a release on Tuesday.
He said, “Trinidad and Tobago is much poorer with the passing of the distinguished Dr Rampaul, a renowned medical practitioner and a pioneering social and community contributor.
“Dr Rampaul lived an illustrious life in the service of the people of T&T, contributing extensively in the fields of medicine, as president and spiritual leader of the Rio Claro Sai Centre, and as an overall exemplar.”
Dr Rampaul received the Humming Bird Medal for his contribution.
Paray said he paid tribute to him for his outstanding service, with an award on of Indian Arrival Day.
He added, “Dr Rampaul was a model citizen, who would be remembered for his selflessness and dedication in the service of his society.”
