THE Queen’s Hall Board of Directors has been reappointed for another three years.
On Wednesday, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts Randall Mitchell handed over the Instruments of appointment to the board headed by chairman Dr Wilhelmus Helmer Hilwig.
Other re-appointed members of the Board are Deputy Chairman Nisa Suepaul, Charlene Griffith Victor Prescod, Brian Wood, Karla Gonzales and Michelle Joy Cato.
Local tenor and impresario John Thomas joins the board as a new member, the ministry stated in a press release on Thursday.
Mitchell in handing over the Instruments of Appointment expressed his satisfaction with the Board for their effective management of the performance space during the Covid-19 pandemic. He thanked the Board for successfully staging events in adherence to the Public Health Regulations which ensured the safety of everyone.
He also commended the board for its role during the previous term for its vision and creation of the soon-to-be-opened Queen’s Hall Garden Theatre. The Garden Theatre is an extension of the venue and offers an outdoor event space for hosting high-quality cultural and theatrical experiences in arts, music, cuisine, and more.
Mitchell also expressed gratitude to the outgoing honourary secretary Zaida Rajnauth for her commitment and service during the last term and further reflected on the untimely passing of Raymond Choo Kong, a former board member.
The ministry stated that it continue to remain confident that the re-appointed Board will continue to steer the Queen’s Hall successfully during the pandemic.
