WITH 15 deaths and more than 1,000 Covid-19 cases for the month of April, the Government has instituted more measures to try to stem the spread of the virus.
The announcement was made at the virtual media conference on Wednesday.
Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh said after a meeting with Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Wednesday morning, further measures that will be put in place.
These measures included:
- No public gatherings for entertainment or concerts;
- The Public Service will revert to 50% capacity with permanent secretaries responsible for rostering;
- No such sanctions are placed on the private sector;
- Places of worship reduced to 25% capacity from 50%;
- Weddings and funerals will be limited to ten persons.
These measures and the ones implemented last week Wednesday such as the closure of beaches, no more in-house dining and the reductions of public gatherings to five people, will expire on May 16.
The new measures take place from Thursday.
