Tobago Man Charged for Sex with Minor

A 29-YEAR-OLD man from Tobago who allegedly lured a 14-year-old girl to his vehicle in the wee hours of the morning to have sex with her has been charged.

Police reported on Tuesday that Kellon Alexander, a sanitisation worker, also known as Justin and Keylon Alexander, appeared virtually on Monday to answer to the charge of sexual penetration. He was denied bail by Scarborough Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor.

Police stated that on February 2, the girl reported that around 2am, a man asked her to come into his vehicle. He then drove to an area at the Mason Hall Playing field where he had sexual intercourse with her against her will. Alexander, of Breadfruit Alley, Argyle, Tobago, was charged by PC Mitchell of the Child Protection Unit Tobago on April 10. The investigation was spearheaded by acting Supt  Clair Guy-Alleyne,  acting ASP Roberts and the investigation was supervised by Sgt Miller. The matter was adjourned to April 16.

In a separate incident, a 20-year-old labourer was granted bail when he appeared before a Siparia Magistrate on Tuesday, charged with three counts of sexual penetration against a girl.

Keron Bhola, of Patterson Avenue, Fyzabad, was charged with the offences when he appeared before Magistrate Aden Stroude, police reported.

The three counts allegedly took place between  January  and April.

He was granted bail  with a surety in the sum of $175,000 and the matter was adjourned to May 11.

The accused was also ordered to not have any contact with the victim, not be in the vicinity of the victim’s home village in Fyzabad, to stay 100 feet away from the victim and report to the Fyzabad Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday of every week between the hours of 6am and 6pm.

Bholas was allegedly found in the victim’s bedroom by her grandmother and a report made to the police. He was arrested on Saturday  and the charge laid on Monday. Investigations were spearheaded by W/Supt (Ag) Claire Guy Alleyne and ASP (Ag) Roberts and supervised by Insp (Ag) Knutt, while the charges were laid by WPC McGregor of the Child Protection Unit- South Western Division.
