ONLY people in contact with Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley two days before he was tested positive for Covid-19 will be traced.
This was stated by Epidemiologist Dr Avery Hinds at the virtual presser of the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
He said, “The people who would have been in contact with him at the press conference on March 27 or in Parliament would fall long before the onset of symptoms.”
Dr Hinds added, “The queries that have come about for contact tracing around that period really doesn’t apply.
“Contact tracing is done two days back from the date the person was tested positive for the virus.”
He said, “Contract tracing has been carried out and all relevant individuals who would have been in relevant contact would have been placed into quarantine and testing would have been done.”
People have called for answers about the contact tracing of Dr Rowley after he was tested positive on April 6.
He is currently in isolation at the prime minister’s official residence in Blenheim, Tobago, and has be attending online meetings and conference calls.
Dr Hinds said the method of contact tracing was in keeping with the World Health Organization guidelines which was updated on February 21.
On Friday, Opposition MPs boycotted the sitting of the Lower House saying that they feared a spread of the Covid-19 virus within the Parliament.
