T&T to Get 140,000 Covid-19 Vaccines from India, China

TRINIDAD and Tobago will be receiving Covid-19 vaccines from India and China.

This was confirmed in a Facebook post by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Wednesday.

He said following official correspondence from him to Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, T&T was informed that it will get 40,000 doses of the AstraZenca vaccine that has been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Dr Rowley said, “Additionally the People’s Republic of China has offered 100,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of T&T to support and safeguard the health of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

“The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has graciously accepted this generous offer of the Sinopharm vaccine as we anxiously await WHO approval.”

Dr Rowley expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Modi and President Xi Jinping for their generosity.

The post stated that relevant arrangements were being made for the shipment of the vaccines to Port of Spain.
