A LABOURER from Enterprise, Chaguanas, was scheduled to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with a shooting that occurred on New Year’s Day.
Michel Gittens, 23, was charged with shooting with intent and wounding with intent, police reported on Monday.
He was arrested on January 21, after officers acted on information during an anti-crime exercise conducted within the Chaguanas Police District by officers of the Chaguanas CID and the Central Division Gang Unit.
Police stated that around 10pm on January 1, two men were at the corner of Bhagaloo Street and Chris Terrace, Enterprise, Chaguanas, when it is alleged that they got into an altercation with four men known to them.
It is alleged that during the altercation, three of the four men had firearms and shot at the two men along the roadway, with an intent to cause them grievous bodily harm.
One of the victims was wounded in his left leg. The other man who feared for his life fled the scene and received no injuries.
