CLOSE to 900,000 Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines have been distributed in Trinidad and Tobago. It is the most popular of the four brands of vaccines given out in the country to fight the pandemic.
This was revealed by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh on Saturday during the Ministry of Health’s virtual media conference.
Deyalsingh gave a breakdown of the vaccine distribution by brand, a request that was made several times at the conferences by AZPNews.com and other media representatives.
The minister said the vaccines were calculated “across the range of first doses, second doses, boosters.”
The breakdown of figures include:
Sinopharm: 897,805;
Pfizer: 328,444;
AstraZeneca: 241,167; and
Johnson and Johnson: 56,339
AstraZeneca was the first brand of vaccine to be received via the COVAX facility. This was received on March 30, 2021. Another batch was donated by the Canadian government.
Sinopharm was purchased via a non-disclosure agreement with the Chinese government.
The Pfizer vaccines were donated by the United States Government.
And Johnson and Johnson was purchased via a non-disclosure sales agreement with the African Medical Supplies Platform (AMSP).
