NINE people are expected to appear before the Sangre Grande Magistrate Court on Monday for congregating by a parlour.
Police reported that during an exercise conducted in Sangre Grande between 10.30am and 2pm on Sunday, the individuals were arrested by Sangre Grande police officers after they were found congregating at a parlour along Quash Trace, Sangre Grande.
The persons range in ages from 21 to 56 years old. They were in breach of Section 3 (1) (b) of the Public Health Act which states “that persons shall not gather in any public place where the persons therein exceed five persons at a time.”
Police reported that during the exercise, one additional person was also arrested for littering and failure to wear a mask. A further seven Public Health Notices were issued.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that it would like to remind the public that the regulations put forward regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, were here to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
“The TTPS urges the members of the public to avoid unsafe practices and incurring unnecessary fines by adhering to the regulations,” the TTPS stated on Monday.
