PASSENGERS who intend on travelling will now have the comfort of reduced wait time for their Covid-19 PCR test at the Piarco International Airport.
Director at the St Augustine Medical Laboratory Limited Dr Shari Ramsaran thanked the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (AATT) for this initiative to ensure safety of all passengers on the opening of borders.

Dr Ramsaran said, “This morning at 8 am, we opened the doors at the Piarco International Airport with our Covid-19 testing facility which is the first in Trinidad and Tobago.”
She said, “If a passenger is arriving into T&T, they must have been tested outside Trinidad before they can board the plane and get into this airport.
“If a passenger is in transit, they would come up to us because they would have had an appointment beforehand and they would have done a PCR test.”
Dr Ramsaran said results would become available within 80 minutes of testing and the cost is $800.
She said, “For certain countries, we’re doing (RT–PCR) Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction which is a traditional RT–PCR which is required when they get to their destination, and the cost of that is $1,100.”
In addition, Dr Ramsaran urged passengers to arrive 24 hrs before to get the traditional PCR done and eighty minutes before, to get the Rapid Molecular Ace testing.
