AS Trinidad and Tobago continues to be adversely affected by the weather, widespread flooding is being reported across the country mainly in the northeast areas.
On Wednesday alone, the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government reported 75 flooding incidents across seven regional corporations.
The Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC) reported the highest number of floods which was 36. Sangre Grande Regional Corporation (SGRC) followed next with 23 reports of flooding.
In its summary report at 6 pm on Wednesday, the ministry reported 18 landslips across four regions with SGRC reporting 11.
There were six reports of fallen trees and five reports of roof damage.
Sandbags, tarpaulins and mattresses were given out to some affected residents and emergency shelters have been set up across the board.
If affected, the public is being urged to contact their respective Corporation’s Disaster Management Unit hotline.
Trinidad and Tobago is under an adverse weather alert yellow level and a riverine alert yellow level, that remains in effect until Friday.
