SIX vehicles stolen in various parts of Trinidad have been recovered in the North Eastern Division (NED).
On Sunday, the Trinidad and the Tobago Police Service (TTPS) in a release stated that officers of the NED made a major breakthrough into a motor vehicle larceny ring, with the arrest of two suspects during an intelligence-led operation conducted in the division on Friday.
The operation was spearheaded by Snr Supt Maharaj, Supt Ramjohn, ASP Pariman and coordinated by Insp Bharath and supervised by Sgts Murray, Mitchell, Ramsumair, Belilam and Maynard also included officers of the Gang and Intelligence Units.
The TTPS stated, “Following a period of intelligence gathering activities on larceny motor vehicle offenders, the team of officers put the operation into effect following an increase in larceny motor vehicles within the Division and the large number of vehicles being recovered in the Division which were reported stolen from other Divisions.”
During the exercise, the NED Gang Unit seized one white Nissan Wingroad wagon motor vehicle and arrested two men who are suspected to have been involved in several motor vehicle larcenies in the Southern Division.
The officers also recovered one grey Nissan Wingroad wagon, which was stolen from the South Oropouche district earlier this week.
Police stated that a third suspect was detained in connection with the larcenies on Saturday by officers of the North Eastern Division Crime Patrol Unit.
The three suspects are to be handed over to officers of the Southern and South Western Divisions as investigations are ongoing.
