DRIVERS are once again being asked to refrain from drinking and driving especially with heightened vehicular accidents.
The caution comes from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) in a media release on Saturday.
The TTPS is also asking motorists to operate their vehicles with due care, attention and respect for fellow road users.
On Saturday morning, six persons were arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) following an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Southern Division.
The TTPS reported that between 1 am and 4 am, officers from the San Fernando Enquiry Staff, Southern Division Road Enforcement Task Force and Crime Patrol Unit conducted an anti-crime exercise, placing special emphasis on high-crime areas and frequently targeted vehicles.
During the exercise, six individuals were found to have breath alcohol levels exceeding the legally prescribed limit.
Among those arrested were:
• A 37-year-old man from Potato Trace, La Romaine
• A 35-year-old man from De Montagnac Drive, Palmiste, San Fernando
• A 32-year-old man from Clarkia Drive, Debe
• A 36-year-old man from Cipero Road, San Fernando
• A 42-year-old woman from Erin Road, Santa Flora
• A 24-year-old man from Manahambre Road, Ste Madeleine
During the exercise, 25 stop-and-search forms were completed, and one Fixed Penalty Notice was also issued.
