SIX emergency shelters have been set up to accommodate persons who have to be evacuated due to flooding. Roof damage has occurred to more than 30 structures on Sunday.
The listing of the shelters is posted on the Ministry of Rural Devlopment and Local Government Facebook page along with contact numbers.
The centres are:
- Calvary Community Centre in the Arima Borough Corporation – 800- 2222.
- Vishnu Boys Hindy College, Upper El Dorado Community Centre and the Tunapuna Community Centre in the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation – 800-8772
- Plum Mitan Community Centre in the Mayaro Rio Claro Regional Corporation – 800-4672
- Misir Community Centre in the San Juan Laventille Regional Corporation – 800-7572.
The centres were activated on Sunday, as many people were marooned and some had to be evacuated from their homes by boat.
A at 8.31 pm on Sunday, 44 floods, 38 roof damages, six landslides and one fallen tree were reported by the ministry.
