MORE than 55 outreach programmes will be conducted by the Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA) in the month of August to increase the reach, accessibility and convenience for clients in the eastern region to access Covid-19 vaccination.
In a press release on Tuesday, the authority stated that it was aware of the transportation challenges that may be encountered given its geography.
A programme was put in place to complement the 16 health facilities and the three mass vaccination sites being operated by the ERHA.
The ERHA stated, “Vaccination teams from our five primary health care clusters will conduct Outreach Programmes at strategic locations within the communities of St. Andrew/St. David and Nariva/Mayaro. These include Ecclesville, Fishing Pond, Turure, Balandra, Mafeking Village and Navet Village among others. Information will be provided on the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccination. Persons will also have the opportunity to speak directly with healthcare professionals.”
This initiative began on Tuesday at Superstar Bar Carpark, Mafeking Village, Mayaro and will end on August 28 at the Sangre Grande Hindu School, Rousseau Street, Sangre Grande.
The Authority added that it continued to partner with faith based organisations and community groups to bring the programme closer to their members.
