Tancoo Meets with CAF

MINISTER of Finance Davendranath Tancoo met with representatives of the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) at the ministry’s head office in Port of Spain on Monday.

In a release on Tuesday, the Ministry of Finance stated that the meeting aimed to highlight CAF’s role as Trinidad and Tobago’s principal multilateral development partner.

CAF officials acknowledged the strength of their 30-year partnership with Trinidad and Tobago, describing it as one built on collaboration, mutual respect, and friendship, the release stated.

The release stated, “CAF collaborates directly with the MOF as the official focal point for the country’s engagement, including loan financing and technical assistance support on key issues such as flood mitigation, corporate governance for state-owned entities, digital payments and e-identity, and public procurement.”

During the discussions, CAF informed Tancoo that Trinidad and Tobago has assumed the Chairmanship of CAF’s Board of Directors for a one-year term. This announcement was made during the CLXXXIV (184) Meeting of the Board of Directors held on March 27 in Santiago, Chile, the release stated.

Leading the Ministry of Finance delegation were Tancoo, Permanent Secretary Suzette Taylor Lee Chee, and Senior Debt Analyst Jimmy Wong.

The CAF delegation included Director Representative in Trinidad and Tobago Bernardo Requena, Regional Manager for the Caribbean Stacy Kennedy-Richards, and Principal Executive Stephanie Ledesma.
