OFFICERS of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) seized more than TT$4 million worth of marijuana during an intelligence-led operation in the Northeast on Wednesday morning.
The exercise, which ran from 6 am to 11 am in the Northeastern Division, was supervised by Snr Supt Edwards, Supt Etienne and ASP Lynch, with support from the Inter-Agency Task Force.
During the operation, officers intercepted a vehicle travelling west along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway near the Ibis Building, opposite the Courts Mega Store. A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered 40 packages of compressed Colombian “creepy” marijuana, weighing 20.74 kilogrammes. Police estimate the drugs carry a street value of TT$4.4 million.
The seizure was coordinated on the ground by Insp Ammon.
