TUNAPUNA — A Tobago supervisor, aged 49, was granted $200,000 in bail on charges of assault by beating and breach of protection order.
He appeared before Magistrate Indra Ramoo-Haynes on Monday.
According police reports the incident allegedly occurred at the accused residence in Tunapuna around 8.30 pm on January 25, 2024. The supervisor is accused of beating his two children with a leather belt, alleging that they had taken money from his wallet. Attempts by the victim to intervene resulted in her sustaining an injury from the belt to her back.
Following an argument the victim and her children went to the Tunapuna Police and made a report and a protection order was instituted against the supervisor.
The case was adjourned to May 20.
