42 Police Officers Honoured for Fighting in 1990 Coup

POLICE officers who fought during the 1990 coup attempt have been honoured.

The 42 former and current police officers were given medals and certificates of honour for diligently and selflessly serving their country during the attempted coup of July 27, 1990.

Among the recipients, ten were honoured with an award for bravery, a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated.

The medals and certificates were bestowed on Thursday at Queen’s Hall, Port of Spain, at the TTPS’ premiere of its CODE 727 documentary which showcases the selfless acts of service and sacrifices of the men and women during the insurrection.

President Paula-Mae Weeks, Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly Farley Augustine, Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds and Acting Commissioner of Police Mc Donald Jacob were among many who viewed the documentary and honoured the men and women of the TTPS.
