GOVERNMENT will be distributing 41,000 face masks to the population.
The announcement was made by Finance Minister Colm Imbert in Parliament on Friday.
Speaking during the second reading of the Supplementation and Variation of Appropriation Bill for the Financial Year 2021, Imbert said the masks were bought by Government for the population.
He said, “I am very pleased to announce this morning that yesterday, a number of Members of Parliament would have received on behalf of the Government through the National Insurance Property and Development Company (NIPDEC), 1,000 face masks each for distributing. By the end of next week, we should have distributed 41,000 cloth face masks.”
The Government is currently on a drive distributing thousands of food boxes organized by National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO) through the MPs.
And Imbert also announced a varied appropriated sum to be allocated to the Ministry of Social Development to the value of $40million for further relief and further discussions will be held.
