A sting operation in the Western Division on Monday has resulted in the arrest of two women and two men, accused of robbery and extortion.

A release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Tuesday reported the arrests following the operation, which was carried out in response to a report of Robbery with Violence, followed by an instance of Demanding Money by Menaces.

The TTPS stated on Saturday the victim reported being robbed of a vehicle and other personal belongings when he was forced to stop while driving along Cuthbert Circular, Diego Martin. The victim reported he was later contacted by the suspects who demanded cash in exchange for his vehicle.

“Acting on intelligence received,” stated the TTPS, “officers proceeded to a location along the Diego Martin Main Road, Four Roads, where strategic positions were established.”

The TTPS stated while at the location, the victim was approached by a suspect and an exchange of cash took place.

Upon the exchange of cash, the TTPS reported, officers intervened and detained the suspect, a 39-year-old man of Beard Street, Maraval.

The TTPS stated further enquiries led to the detention of three additional suspects involved in the crime.

Arrested were a 23-year-old woman of John Lane, D’Abadie, a 41-year-old man of Covigne Road, Diego Martin, and a 29-year-old woman of La Puerta Avenue, Diego Martin.
