4 Arrested in Robbery

AMMUNITION and military style clothing were found by police in Central Trinidad.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) reported on Tuesday that the items were discovered during a targeted hybrid exercise.
 The intelligence-led operation was carried out in several locations and as part of the exercise, officers proceeded to an abandoned lot of land located to the north of a residence in Charlieville.

There they found a multi-coloured bag concealed under a burnt-out metal barrel and upon inspection, the bag contained a quantity of assorted ammunition, three  black hats bearing what appeared to be police insignia  and one  camouflage uniform resembling that of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.
 The items were seized, and enquiries are ongoing, led by PC Rodriguez.
The TTPS noted that exercise was concluded incident free.

Additionally, four men all in their twenties, were arrested following a robbery in Point Fortin.
Police reports are that approximately 10 am on Monday two victims, a 52-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man, both self-employed and residents of Clarke Road, Penal, were conducting business near the Dunlop roundabout when they were approached by two unmasked male suspects.
The suspects, both of African descent and approximately 4 feet 8 inches in height, were described as being dark in complexion, wearing black jerseys, and fisherman-style hats. One of the suspects was armed with a firearm.

 The assailants robbed the victims of $800 in cash and a black Samsung cellphone valued at $1,000 before fleeing the scene in a gold Nissan Almera, proceeding in the direction of the highway.
The TTPS  stated that a swift broadcast of the vehicle’s description was made by officers of the Southwestern Division Operations Centre (SWDOC). Acting promptly on the information, officers of the Oropouche Police Station and the Southwestern Division Task Force intercepted the suspect vehicle in the vicinity of the Guapo Roundabout.
 Four men were arrested during the operation. They are:
1.       A 25-year-old man, of Morvant;
2.       A 21-year-old man of Oropouche;
3.       A 22-year-old man, of Aripero; and
4.       A 21-year-old man of St Barbs

The vehicle used in the robbery was seized and conveyed to the Point Fortin Police Station for further processing. Investigations are ongoing and charges are expected to be laid in due course.
The TTPS commended the quick action of responding officers and continues to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via the TTPS emergency hotlines.
