POLICE arrest a driver and three passengers following a shooting incident in Morvant on Sunday.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) reported that around 11.30 a m officers from the Morvant Police Station were patrolling Red Hill Extension Road when they noticed a red Suzuki Grand Vitara that suddenly veered off course, crashing into a wall and sustaining minor damage.
The driver allegedly exited the vehicle brandishing a silver-coloured pistol, pointing it toward the officers. Fearing for their safety, the officers, adhering to the Use of Force Policy, discharged their weapons at the vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured by gunfire, although the driver suffered a minor scalp abrasion from the crash.
The four men, aged 18 to 28, all from Chinapoo, Morvant, were found without a Firearm Users’ Licence. Police detained them and retrieved a Ruger nine-millimetre pistol, complete with a magazine and nine rounds of ammunition.
