THE Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) worked overnight to complete restoration works to affected areas by the severe weather.
T&TEC stated in an update on Wednesday that its crews completed work on 38 reports of outage mainly in northwest Trinidad that occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
T&TEC said that severe lightning activity and heavy winds resulted in lightning strikes and falling trees which damaged overhead lines and some poles.
Eleven crews worked continuously to complete restoration, however additional reports have emerged within the affected areas and some customers in the following areas are still without supply.
These include: Barataria, Belmont, Blanchisseuse, Cascade, Chaguaramas, Diego Martin, Laventille, Maraval, Morvant, Paramin, San Juan, Santa Cruz, and St Ann’s.
More crews were being dispatched from T&TEC’s other distribution areas on Wednesday morning to complete the restoration efforts.
“We again apologise to customers in these areas for the inconvenience being experienced. Please be assured that we are applying all necessary resources to ensure restoration is completed today,” T&TEC stated.
Trinidad and Tobago remains under a yellow level weather alert until 12 noon on Wednesday.
