MORNE DIABLO – THIRTY-FIVE illegal immigrants were taken into custody from a beach on Morne Diablo in south Trinidad on Saturday.
In addition police arrested one man and two Venezuelan nationals and seized six rifles and marijuana.
According to reports, during an anti-crime exercise on Saturday, officers of the Southern Western Division stopped a vehicle near to Morne Diablo beach where the driver exited the vehicle and began to run away.
He was apprehended and police searched the vehicle and found found six shotguns, 17 kilograms of marijuana and “bush rum.”
Two Venezuelan nationals who were in another vehicle driving out of the beach road were also arrested, police said.
Police then went to the beach and found four men and 31 female illegal immigrants ranging in ages from two months to 54 years.
