JUST over 2,700 students out of 9,000 who made less than 50% of the marks in the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam for 2022 have signed up for the Ministry of Education revision classes.
The Vacation Revision Programme (VRP) begins at 33 centres across Trinidad from Monday and runs until August 12, a Ministry of Education release stated on Friday.
The release stated, “This programme, specifically designed for students scoring less than 50% in the SEA of 2022, provides support in the form of targeted revision in Mathematics, English Language Arts and Writing.
“Students will also partake in activities such as music and drama, and all students will be provided with breakfast and lunch over the course of the programme.
“Teachers selected for the VRP received guidance from the Curriculum Planning and Development Division (CPPD) with respect to the specific areas of the curriculum to be addressed over the four-week period.”
It stated that psychosocial support will also be provided to students and parents through the Student Support Services Division at the VRP. This is in addition to academic and visual and performing arts (VAPA) content.
The release stated that there will be an “educational” caravan themed, Turn Up, Don’t Give Up aimed at inspiring students in the VRP to stay the course and push forward despite whatever academic, social or economic challenges they currently face.
