KENNETH Supersad and Neval Chatelal are among the 30 semi-finalists named for the Chutney Soca Monarch.
A release from Southex, the organiser of the event stated that close to 80 persons registered new songs for the competition, which is the largest number in more than six years.
More than 10% of the registration has been from artistes coming from USA and Canada.
Southex stated that the screening process of the songs submitted was completed on Saturday
The semi-final round is scheduled for January 27 at Screamers at South Haven, Debe.
From the semi-final round, only ten songs will be selected for the grand final which is scheduled for February 4 at Skinner Park, San Fernando.
In its release on Monday, Southex stated that on the final night top entertainers in the Caribbean will star in a special feature “Legends and Icons.”
Six special artistes will be honoured.
