THREE suspects linked to a double murder in Diego Martin on Wednesday have been detained by police.
In a release on Thursday, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that the arrests were made during a well-coordinated operation conducted by the Western Division.
The operation took place between 6.30 pm on Wednesday and 1.30 am on Thursday, spearheaded by Senior Superintendent Williams, along with the Western Division Gang Intelligence Unit, the Western Division Task Force, and the West End Criminal Investigations Department.
Initial intelligence led officers to Covigne Road, Diego Martin, where they arrested one male suspect in connection with the shooting that took place on Quarry Street.
As the investigation progressed, further intelligence led officers to an abandoned silver wagon at Boiler Trace, Cameron, which contained crucial evidence.
This prompted a search on Upper Richplain Road, where two additional suspects were arrested, one of whom was found with a Sig Sauer pistol loaded with 9-mm ammunition.
The violent incident unfolded around 6.30 pm when three men were near a mini-mart on Hillarie Street. A silver Nissan AD wagon approached, and three armed assailants exited the vehicle, opening fire on the group before fleeing west along Hillarie Street.
The victims were rushed to the St James Infirmary, but tragically, two succumbed to their injuries. The deceased have been identified as 27-year-old Kalvin Levine from Green Hill Village and 26-year-old Anfernee Rahim Eligon from Savannah Road #1. The third victim is currently in stable condition.
The operation was coordinated by Snr Superintendent Williams, led by ASP Lynch, Insp Grant, and Sgt Dominique, with direct supervision by Cpls Garcia, Khan, and Peters, and a dedicated team including PC Joseph, PC McClean, PC Hollingsworth, PC Roberts, PC Wilson-Dowers, PC Ramkripaul, PC Mootie, PC Allard, and PC Sealey.
The TTPS expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and encouraged continued support for law enforcement efforts aimed at maintaining peace and safety in the community.
