THREE soldiers who are part of the security detail of the Chief of Defence Staff Darryl Daniel have been detained for questioning for the kidnapping and death of a Maraval man.
They were held in a joint exercise between the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) on Wednesday.
A release from the TTDF confirmed that three of its soldiers were detained in relation to the death of a person who was kidnapped on January 9, 2023.
The TTDF stated, “The TTDF is currently assisting the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in the conduct of its investigations and will continue to do so as required. No further details can be provided at this time due to the sensitivity of ongoing investigations.”
Teddy Richards Sylvester was abducted from his home Cameron Hill in Maraval on January 9 and his body was discovered at Cadet Road in Petit Valley four days later.
The soldiers who were arrested live in Carenage, St Ann’s and Barataria. Police said they were being detained at Camp Ogden in St James.
