Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh made the announcement at the virtual health press conference on Wednesday.
Deyalsingh said the initiative was signed off by the World Health Organization (WHO) Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) and the local Technical Advisory Group (TAG).
He said, “Anyone falling into these groups who have been vaccinated over the past four to six months, when you received your first booster, you can now get your second booster.”
However, Deyalsingh added that vaccination sites were still being prepped but vaccines would be rolled out from Friday.
But when asked if the second booster had been approved since January and was only now being rolled out in Trinidad and Tobago, Deyalsingh said he would have to consult Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram on that matter.
He said there are 51,722 doses of Pfizer left and they will expire at the end of June.
Deyalsingh said from June 15, all first dose shots of Pfizer with cease.
