25 Arrested in Holiday Exercises: Weed in Bamboo Patch, Shotgun in Note

Twenty-five persons have been arrested, a firearm, a quantity of ammunition and narcotics seized during anti-crime exercises across policing divisions over the public holidays.

In the Tobago Division, officers during anticrime exercises conducted in the Roxborough District between 7 pm to 10 pm, found and seized 433 grammes of marijuana in a wooden cabinet in an abandoned shed at Bamboo Patch.

An exercise conducted in the Morvant district, between the hours of 5 am and 8 am on Friday targeting priority offenders, saw the arrest of 24 persons for various outstanding warrants.

During the exercise officers went to 6th Avenue and Pitch Road, where 121 grammes of marijuana was found in a bushy area.

Finally, officers in Port of Spain, during roadblock exercises stopped and searched a grey Nissan Note and found and seized a Benelli shotgun along with 11 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition. Subsequent enquiries reveal that the shotgun was stolen on May 28, 2024, in the Arima District and was one of four firearms stolen during that incident. The driver was arrested and is assisting police with further investigations.
