TWO students from Trinidad and Tobago will soon be off to Korea to pursue master degrees.
On Tuesday, the Korean Embassy in St Clair announced that Michaela Finch was selected to pursue a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at the Keimyung University and Adelle Persad who was selected to pursue a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
In a press, the Embassy stated that the scholarships were awarded by the Korean Government through the National Institute for International Education’s (NIIED) Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) programme which offers scholarships to foreign students who wish to further pursue their undergraduate and graduate degrees at Korean tertiary educational institutions.
The Korean Government Scholarships are selected on the basis of academic merit and will cover the full cost of study including one year of study for the Korean Language.
The Embassy stated that Finch and Persad have expressed their keen interest to study in Korea and were looking forward to exploring Korean culture and language while furthering their educational goals.
They will begin their two year degree programmes with one additional year allocated to studying the Korean Language in order to be familiarised with their new environment and student life in Korea in September.
The Korean Embassy stated, “The Korean Government Scholarship Programme offers a great opportunity for the exchange of young scholars between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, which will certainly contribute to future cooperation and fruitful exchanges between our two countries in the years to come.”
