THERE are five suspected positive cases of Covid-19 at the Iere High School in Siparia.
This was confirmed in an update from the Education District Health Unit provided by Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly to AZPNews. com on Monday.
The unit stated that the school’s principal has submitted a list of persons for contact tracing which has not yet been confirmed by the County Medical Officer of Health CMOH.
Two pupils and three teachers are the suspected cases with the pupils being related to each other.
The unit stated that the three staff cases had no connection to one another or the pupil cases.
One staff member was not at the school when tested , another was assessed and no swab deemed necessary by medical officer and the third was a primary contact to a positive person.
The unit also stated, “District Nurses currently investigating a contact list of 60 plus persons for the student cases, but CMOH has not confirmed any such details.”
Chairman of the Siparia Regional Corporation Dinesh Sankersingh told AZPNews.com, he has not heard any solid information regarding the school’s Covid cases but the Corporation will be ready to assist in any way if the need arises.
