2 Diego Martin Men Held for Stealing $6,000 in Puncheon

TWO Diego Martin men have been arrested for allegedly stealing 18 bottles of Puncheon Rum valued at $6,000.

A release by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Tuesday stated that the two men were in police custody assisting with the investigation into stolen items from a major food chain company on Monday.

It stated that around 1.10 pm, security officers at the Mausica branch spotted two pushing a navy blue toddler stroller.

Upon exiting the establishment, the men were approached by Arima Police officers who searched the stroller and discovered 18 bottles of 1.75 ml of Forres Park Puncheon Rum valued at TT $334.95 each, a total of TT $6,029.10.

The men were asked to provide a receipt of proof of purchase for items, however they were both unable to produce one.

The men, aged 23 and 42 both of Petit Valley, Diego Martin, were cautioned, arrested and taken to the Arima Police Station where they are being processed. They are expected to be charged with Larceny.
