THERE are two Covid-19 patients who are on ventilators – one at the Couva facility and one at the Scarborough General Hospital.
This according to Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram at a press conference at the Diplomatic Centre on Wednesday.
He said of the 89 positive Covid-19 cases, 59 are mild.
Parasram gave following breakdown:
- 89 positive cases, five deaths, one discharged.
- Three patients in ICU – two at Couva and one at Scarborough
- At Couva – There are 75 positive patients (two in ICU and intubated/on a ventilator and 1 Stable) and
- 14 In High Dependency Unit (a unit that is between an ICU and normal ward. Of these 13 Stable, one closely monitored for possible ICU admission.
- Ministry looking at alternative locations to house these 59 patients who are Mild or no symptoms. Once the reaches they will be tested and once negative a further test will be done and then they could be discharged
- At Scarborough, there is one patient in ICU Isolation (intubated and on a ventilator).
- At Caura all five positive patients are stable.
- At the Balandra, there are 22 people with two who are now positive and have been isolated.
