POLICE arrest two people and seized cocaine worth more than $1 million in El Socorro on Monday.
According to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Tuesday, officers of the Northern Division Task Force (NDTF), conducted an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the El Socorro district.
It stated that a roadblock exercise, coordinated by Snr Supt Francis and Supt Carty, was conducted around 2.30 pm, on Monday and included officers of the NDTF Area South and the La Horquetta Police Station.
Acting on information, officers stopped a motor vehicle with two occupants. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 36 boxes containing computer accessories with the presence of 1.038 kilogrammes of cocaine.
The drug has an estimated street value of $1,447,906.52 the release stated.
The two occupants, a 58-year-old man of Diego Martin and a 37- year-old woman of Petit Valley, were arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing.
