POLICE have arrested 12 suspects and confiscated firearms and narcotics, including cocaine valued at $19.2 million.
The operations, targeting various divisions, saw significant success. Early Friday, between 1 am and 4 am, a house search in Bamboo Settlement #3, Valsayn, led by the Tunapuna CID and the North-Central Division Task Force, resulted in the seizure of an air rifle, a loaded pistol, and 13 rounds of ammunition, with three individuals arrested.
In the Northern Division, a coordinated effort directed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Rishi Singh and other senior officers targeted reports of assault and robbery in D’Abadie. Officers intercepted a Nissan Almera, arresting four men aged 18 to 25 after discovering an imitation firearm and stolen items.
The largest narcotics bust occurred Thursday evening on the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway near Grand Bazaar. Police stopped two vehicles, uncovering 13.8 kilogrammes of cocaine worth over $19 million. Three men from Fyzabad, aged 19 to 36, were detained.
Additional successes were reported in Central and Tobago.
In Flanagin Town, the Gang Unit seized a loaded Smith and Wesson pistol, arresting a 20-year-old suspect. Meanwhile, at the Scarborough Port in Tobago, a search of a Mitsubishi flatbed truck revealed 2.8 kilograms of compressed cannabis, leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old man.
