MORE than 17,000 laptops have been distributed to form one students nationwide, completing the Ministry of Education’s “A Laptop for Every Child” 2025/2026 Nationwide Distribution.
In a press release on Thursday afternoon, the Ministry of Education announced the completion of the “A Laptop for Every Child” 2025/2026 Nationwide Distribution, reaffirming the government’s commitment to digital access and equitable learning opportunities.
The Ministry stated the 17,188 laptops were distributed based on confirmed enrolment across 125 government and government assisted schools in Trinidad, 9 schools in Tobago, 10 private institutions and 10 junior life centres.
In the release, Education Minister Dr Michael Dowlath was quoted saying, “Access to technology is no longer a luxury in education…it is a necessity.”
“By placing these devices in the hands of our students, we are strengthening digital inclusion, supporting teaching and learning, and investing in the future,” he said.
The laptop initiative, which supported the Ministry’s thrust to modernize the education system, was launched by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on November 27, 2025 at Penal Secondary School, with the final laptops being distributed on Wednesday.
