A36-year-old year labourer has been charged for allegedly having sex with a teenager.
He was granted bail in the sum of $150,000 with a surety, when he appeared before Magistrate Alicia Chankar, at the Point Fortin Magistrates’ Court last week charged with three counts of sexual penetration.
As part of the bail condition, the accused was also ordered to stay 100 feet away from the victim, not have any form of contact directly or indirectly with the victim, and he shall report to the Police Station in his district every day.
The accused is expected to reappear in court on March 21, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated in a media release on Monday.
According to police reports, in March, 2022, a teenager and her relative, arrived at the Child Protection Unit, Point Fortin, where they stated that the teenager was seen in photographs and videos having sexual intercourse with an adult male.
WPC Alexander of the Point Fortin Child Protection Unit investigated the matter, which resulted in the arrest of the labourer.
Investigations were supervised by Superintendent Claire Guy-Alleyne, ASP Seecharan, Inspector Ramphal, and Sergeant Charles and Corporal Karmody.
