SUSTAINED State of Emergency (SoE) operations across several policing divisions, resulted in the further arrest of 13 suspects and the seizure of five firearms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics.
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday.
In a media release on Thursday, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) gave details on the arrests.
1. In the Central Division, Task Force officers arrested a 22-year-old St Helena man for possession of one pistol loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.
2. Task Force officers of the Western Division arrested two male suspects, ages 38 and 19, both of Maraval, for possession of one revolver loaded with four rounds of ammunition.
3. Under the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2025, WDTF officers searched the Cocorite home of a 24-year-old suspect, which resulted in the seizure of one magazine containing five rounds of ammunition.
4. In the South Western Division, officers of the Penal Criminal Investigations Department, Gang Intelligence Unit, Penal Police Station and Task Force, arrested a 37-year-old Penal man for possession of a pistol with a selector, loaded with an extendable magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition.
5. The same party of officers, then proceeded to the Oropouche district, where they conducted a search at the home of a 29-year-old male suspect. The search resulted in the discovery of 20 cannabis plants and 1.1 kilogrammes of cannabis. The suspect was arrested in connection with the finds.
6. Officers of the Morvant Police Station arrested a 29-year-old male suspect for possession of one pistol loaded with a magazine containing six rounds of ammunition, one drum magazine with a quantity of ammunition and a quantity of cannabis. The suspect’s 31-year-old female companion was also detained for the offences of Obscene Language and Resisting Arrest.
7. Inter-Agency Task Force personnel proceeded to the Couva district, where they conducted a search along Church Street, which resulted in the discovery of one pistol loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition.
8. The same party of officers then proceeded to the Beetham district, where they conducted a search along 17th Street, where they found four black packets containing a total of two kilogrammes of cannabis.
9. North Eastern Division Gang and Intelligence Unit personnel, alongside officers of the San Juan and Barataria Criminal Investigations Departments and the NED Task Force, proceeded to the Santa Cruz district, where they arrested a male suspect wanted in connection with a 2024 murder.
10. Investigations into a report of larceny of power tools in the Piarco district and a social media post advertising the stolen items for sale on Facebook Marketplace, led officers to a carpark in the Curepe district, where four suspects were held and two of the power tools reported stolen, recovered. The exercise was conducted by officers of the Piarco Police Station and Piarco, Tunapuna and St. Joseph CIDs.
Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters, the TTPS stated.
